Dr. Vijai Kumar

Dr. Vijai Kumar is an internist by training. He began his career in 1974 in the pharmaceutical industry with the Swiss Multinational Sandoz, where he held positions of increasing and diverse responsibilities. He was later the Regional Director, Asia for The Upjohn Company. Dr. Kumar was a Consulting Pharmaceutical Physician for ten years from 1989 before joining Neeman Medical International as its first President and CEO. In 2005, he moved to the USA as the Global Medical Director of Neeman. He then served as the President & Chief Medical Officer of Excel Life Sciences, India’s leading Site Management Organization, for over 12 years, until its acquisition by the largest global CRO.

Dr. Kumar has experience as an investigator, pharmaceutical physician, consultant and head of a clinical trial management organization. In addition, he has been a member of various expert group constituted by the Drugs Controller General (India) to develop GCP guidelines, review the existing Drugs and Cosmetics Act in relation to clinical trials among others. He is closely associated with the growth and evolution of clinical research in India for over thirty five years.

His extensive experience in all aspects of drug development and research methodology help him understand and address the needs and expectations of various stake holders involved in drug discovery and development.
